Day 1--Media Center
Scholarly/Reputable Web site Evaluation Review (See eMaze).
Use an NCWiseOwl online database to find an article for your paper. (To access NCWiseOwl from home go to DRMS Home, Media, Student Research, NCWiseOwl and use the password we gave you in class. This Weebly link won't work from home.)
Look at your topic and find two possible web sites you may want to use for research. Fill out the linked Web Site Evaluation sheet for two sites.
Source Information--Be sure to look for source information to complete your note sheets such as author, publication date, etc. The date of access is the date you accessed the info. You must look for this info for your web site. For your online databases, the citation is often provided to you.
Notetaking--Read then Write. Summarize the info in your own words.

Today we are going to talk about how to take notes, paraphrasing, and avoiding plagiarism. You will review your notes from credible web sites and an online database and make sure you have useful notes and the correct citation information.

Take notes. Make sure you use the notetaking sheets provided because you will need to create a Works Cited Page at the end. A Works Cited Page is a formatted list of the sources you used to write your paper.
